This project emerges from the cross cultural relationship between two artists: Hanna from New York and Ale from Guadalajara, México. Through creative collaboration they have deepened their relationship despite their native tongues. Shot in one day inside their quarantine walls in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico. "In the garden beyond language" is a symbolic story inspired by a poem by the Sufi poet Kabir.
This is a story of sacred aloneness. The necessary solitude of the human experience which is a place of vital feminine self discovery.
Alone after months of quarantine, our character Alexandra is surrounded by feelings of solitude. She is visited during mealtime by an ancestor being who reminds her of the deep fact that we are ultimately alone in our intimacy but simultaneously, we are all one and with the divine.
The ancestor invites her to her own garden, the garden of discovery. Here she will experience oneness with wildness. This is a return to intuition, the natural world and a place beyond language. The second character in the garden represents the inner self of Alexandra, and together they become one with the garden. Gestures express multitudes. The unveiling of realities that are ever present.
