KODAK SUPER 8 FILMMAKING CHALLENGE

This is a compile of Super 8 captures of three jet planes in flight at the 2014 Wings Over The Illawarra Airshow that was held on 4th May 2014. The jets I captured include the CAC CA-27 Sabre, the SIAI-Marchetti S-211 and the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. They were in fact the only planes that flew at the show that day as it was incredibly windy with wind speeds exceeding 100km/hr causing cancellation to most of the other planes that were meant to fly that day. Because of the winds my camera motion was very shaky and jerky too as seen in the film. Anyhow I captured these planes on three old Kodak Kodachrome 40 Super 8 films, two expired in 1981 and one in 1989 and I home processed them in Caffenol C (coffee, vitamin C and washing soda) and Nanolab transferred the films to digital. I also had my digital camcorder gaffer taped on top of my Super 8 camera to capture the audio and in post production I synced the audio as best as possible up with the films to make them sound films. Overall I'm happy with the end result.
