The purpose of this video, Injustice Anywhere Is A Threat To Justice Everywhere, is to illuminate a dark chapter of American history. The lyrics and images within present the audience with a brief historical summary of the injustice, discrimination, and inequality faced by the African-American population from chattel slavery, through the days of Jim Crow, to the War on Drugs & our current judicial system built upon mass incarceration. This side of American history is often difficult and painful to discuss, yet it is also a history that has played an integral and undeniable role in our nation’s overall development. For a country that was founded on the idea of universal, inalienable rights for all mankind, our failures in providing that to every individual are just as important to consider and study as our successes. While this video was not created to be inherently comfortable viewing, it is in no way intended to be divisive. Ultimately, this video encourages deep personal reflection and demands a call to action to respect and recognize the humanity in every individual we meet, regardless of race, creed, or color (I am a man). The video offers one simple solution to the racial and political strife dividing our country today. Deeply rooted in the teachings of MLK and the Civil Rights Movement, it is the most powerful weapon known to mankind and the only solution capable of transforming our worst enemies into our greatest friends: Love. For achieving real, lasting peace is only possible at the point where truth and love meet. After you watch this video, you will know the truth, the only decision you will have to make is whether your response to it is entrenched in hate or invigorated by love. "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter" -- Martin Luther King Jr.
