Michif French, The Dying Métis Language

This film details experiences growing up speaking Michif French from different generations, as well as speaking about the preservation of the language. This is the only the beginning of a larger project and initiative I will be undertaking for the rest of my life, as I pledge to do my part to keep our language alive by using the format of filmmaking. I am a 17 year old Métis filmmaker from Winnipeg, Manitoba. This documentary features my grandmother Arlene (Flammand) Chapman. We are Red River Métis. My grandmother was gracious enough to lend her time and share her experiences for this film. Mme Candice Behrendt is a teacher at my school, and was also gracious enough to lend her time and share her experiences for this film. Marsii, this film would not have been possible without the both of them.
