PAID FOR BY is a comedy short that explores the nature of American politics as seen through the lens of political commercial production. Our heroic producer, Margot Meriwether, is passionate about her job producing political ads that she believes in. She is over-the-moon excited to produce Diane Busch's issue ad about women entrepreneurs, and stoically promises to never stand by silently while women are marginalized. The painful truth of politics is that marginalizing women of color keeps viewers from changing the channel, and Margot is faced with the reality that the American public is used to white men explaining things.
