Famous for its cowboys and skiing, it is easy to see why Montana has embraced skijoring—the perfect combination of the two. The Big Hole Valley Winterfest shuts down the town of Wisdom, as riders and skiers fly along the course on the small town’s main street. Adding to the atmosphere of friendly competition, a random drawing pairs riders and skiers, giving newcomers the chance to work with seasoned veterans. Skijoring in Wisdom has been a staple in Montana since Winterfest’s inauguration in 2008. This exciting and quirky event is the ideal way to celebrate Montana’s winter season.
