The Netherlands is a country in northern Europe, 27% of which lies below sea level. From the 1970s-1990s they were a leader on environmental policy. Then they fell behind. Now they are finding innovative ways to get back on track. One of these is the trailblazing "Urgenda" case in which a group of environmentalists took the Dutch government to court for failing to meet its climate change obligations. Their victory is the first time a court has ruled that a country has a legal obligation to address climate change, and it's served as a model for environmentalists all over the world.
