Finishing my last semester of college remotely in quarantine from my childhood home, I have been revisiting items that are emblematic of my "feminized childhood." To me, a feminized childhood is the way hegemony infiltrates the socialization of its subjects from a young age through play. While in quarantine, I dug up my Barbie hair accessories and shoes from old storage bins and used them to decorate myself. This short film is a meditation on the feminine subjects (both doll and human) these accessories prescribe, the Barbie I thought I would one day become, and the woman I am now. Shot on an iPhone. Audio: excerpts of my rendition of Regina Spektor's "I Want To Sing" from her 11:11 album.
