Producer, Director Rachel Beaulieu, born in Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba, began her career as web designer after graduating from Media Production at Assiniboine Community College in 2010.

Rachel’s passion for the industry started in childhood, creating and directing plays with neighborhood children and doing photo shoots in her bedroom with siblings on disposable cameras. She almost pursued a career in health but during orientation she was compelled to apply for the Media Production program.

Most of her career has been as a broadcast video editor, she has worked on award winning shows and documentaries in Canada. Rachel’s goal to be a director has been long and watchful, she has worked along side many, as an editor, and has learned many techniques and to avoid pitfalls. Even though she has worked with the best, she has learned the hard way and has had drawbacks with her independent films. Her film “The Princess Who Saved the Kingdom” was an ambitious project for a no budget film and is still in post-production due to the 3d animation and visual effects she imagined.

Her main work has been editing documentaries, so her first Directed film to be debuted is called “Red River Roots”. Red River Roots follows Jesse Carriere. Jesse’s connection to his Red River Roots goes back over a century. He goes on a spiritual journey, to Batoche, Saskatchewan, to bring his uncle a piece of home.

Rachel is currently working at MFNERC (Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre) where she creates original content for cultural and educational purposes, and most of her work is shared online as viral videos.
