"The Divide" is a short film based around the recent police shootings this year and within the last few years. It's a fictional story that portrays a side of these real events many people don't see or understand. It depicts how events like these can cause a break in friendships and family relationships because of different viewpoints, assumptions, and stereotypes. It shows the realness of these effects. I wanted to tell a story exploring what would happen if two people with different viewpoints happened to be non-bioligical family members, each of different races. Our main character has been raised with her mother's values. However, when she is placed on the personal side of an incident, she sees a very different perspective. Will the bond they share be strong enough to overcome their disagreements?
