Very little is known of the whereabouts of hawksbill sea turtles in the Eastern Pacific. In the southern Gulf of California, a Mexican biologist has joined efforts with local fishermen to shed light on the habits of this critically endangered species. This is a story about the importance of changing people´s minds and attitudes towards the ocean and its critters. What started as a fishery refuge, to protect commercial fishery, ended up as a crucial habitat for the hawksbill. Opening up discoveries that will prove crucial to the conservation of this beautiful sea turtle´s Eastern Pacific population, which is the most endangered in the world.
